Prayer Shawl Ministry

"You created every part of me, knitting me in my Mother's womb.  For such handiwork, I praise you.  Awesome this great wonder!"

The Prayer Shawl Ministry is a wonderful way to share Gods love, comfort and peace with someone who feels forgotten, lonely or suffering with a serious illness.  As the shawls are created, the maker prays for the needs of the person receiving the shawl.  This not only reminds the maker of the shawl of Gods love, but also strengthens their relationship with God through prayer.

If you would like to be a part of this ministry you can either, volunteer your time to knit or crochet a shawl, donate yarn, or donate money to purchase yarn for kits.

Some uses for the Prayer Shawl

Undergoing medical procedures; as a comfort after a loss, during bereavement, prayer or meditation, commitment or marriage ceremonies, birthing, nursing a baby; as a bridal shower gift; during an illness and recovery; ministering to others or just socializing...  There are endless possibilities!!!  A blessing is offered when the gift is presented.

If you know someone who would benefit from this ministry, please contact Sharon at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church 715-352-2888 or e-mail at Secretary at  Secretary@bethstj.org .  The person need not be a member of our church, just someone in need of Gods love and healing powers.
